I tend to see myself more and more as schizoid, and I'm getting more comfortable with it all the time. I enjoyed your article, which I found as encouraging as an earlier piece by Nancy McWilliams. I also enjoyed reading the comments that followed. The DSM description of schizoids still worries me, but then I have to keep in mind that the APA is the same group that used to think homosexuality was a clinical disorder.

Hi Pam &Rob :)

I was intrigued by your post.
Im 28, male, and schizoid (one of the subtypes, and with some other things thrown in as well).
What exactly is it that bothers you?
My father seems totally obnoxious to me at times and I never understood why. Perhaps we can figure things out.

Thank you for your thorough and enlightening explanation of antisocial personalities. I now understand more fully why my antisocial ex-boyfriend could not appreciate or respond in kind to my sincere love and empathy. This new information has helped me in my journey to heal, and I very much appreciate it.

Interesting, though the mention of a "maid" given that an infinitely small percentage of the population has a maid, comes over as very strange.
